Welcome to our fundraising team page.
Frank Michel was diagnosed with Lupus in 1998. Frank is our father, but he is also a husband, brother, grandpa, and uncle.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that occurs when the body's immune system attacks its own healthy tissues and organs in the body, including the skin, joints, kidneys, lungs, brain and heart. This causes an unpredictable range of symptoms such as fatigue, rashes, joint inflammation, muscle pain or organ failure, some of which can lead to death. Lupus is a terrible disease, and not enough people know about its devastating impact on families. We need more funding for treatments and cures.
Throughout the years he struggled daily with lupus related symptoms and complications – from poor blood circulation, to difficulties with recovering from colds, in and out of hospitals, pain, and slowly losing his ability to walk. Lupus has affected everything from what he can do day-to-day. Lupus has forced him to miss out on family gatherings. It's frustrating watching this disease slowly attack someone you care about and not being able to do anything about it. On the days he isn't struggling with symptoms, he is happy and smiling.
We have overcome every struggle together as a family and we have not given up hope. It may be a long road ahead, but we are confident we can handle anything with faith in God.
Imagine a day when doctors can say, "There is a cure for lupus". Until that day though, there is work to be done. That's why we are taking action in the fight against lupus. Join us as we participate in the Lupus Foundation of America's Walk to End Lupus Now® to raise critical funds for the estimated 1.5 million people living with lupus in the United States.
Will you join our team and help us reach our fundraising goal? Or you can also support by making a secure contribution on our walk page. You’ll be supporting the Foundation's efforts to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus. Every single dollar counts!
