2019 Walk to End Lupus Now, Richmond

Team Aqueen

Welcome to Team Aqueen’s fundraising page!

Peace loved ones! Thanks for coming this far. My name is Taizhé Aqueen.. some of you may know me as Zhé. I was first diagnosed with an autoimmune condition around March 2011, although I have been dealing with lesser symptoms since I was a toddler. The first to be noticed was the fatigue, then the shocking back and hip pain and slowly after... the anxiety, food aversions/nauseuousness, the fog, photosensitivity, and the discoid lesions that I had to welcome regardless of my readiness. When I found myself in the cycle of fighting doctors for a decent answer as to what was going on, I noticed a trend leaving me to the notion that they cannot DO on their own. Lupus takes on varying shapes and forms; without a cure and a broad spectrum of what ‘it is’, what it ‘is not’ and how it’s ‘diagnosed’, many of us often battle alone or in silence. I am one of many, and though I am blessed to have a milder case than some of my fellow warriors, I wish to proactively play my part in bringing awareness to the invisible life of Lupus.

I hope that you can share this year with me on my Walk To End Lupus NOW!

Did you know?

  • Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. It strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known causes or cure.
  • Lupus symptoms can be severe and highly unpredictable and can damage any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys.
  • While lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90% of people living with lupus are women. Women of color are at especially high risk.
  • Only one drug has ever been developed and approved by the US Food and Drug Administration specifically to treat the disease.

Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus. Join our team today and support our efforts!
