Welcome to our fundraising team page.
Imagine a day when doctors can say, "There is a cure for lupus". Until that day though, there is work to be done. Join us as we participate in the Lupus Foundation of America's Walk to End Lupus Now in New York City to raise critical funds for our team captain and the estimated 1.5 million people living with lupus in the United States.
Will you join our team and help us reach our fundraising goal? You’ll be supporting the Foundation's efforts to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus. You can also support by making a secure contribution on our walk page. Every single dollar counts!
Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. It strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known cause or cure. Lupus, personally affects her life because she has been suffering with this disease for many years. She has had symptoms for nearly a decade, and all the while doctors did not understand what her body was going through. A diagnoses of Lupus was finally made in 2010. Lupus symptoms can be severe, highly unpredictable and can damage any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys. Lupus has various types of symptoms and can mimic many other illnesses which is why the disease can be very difficult to diagnose. Her symptoms were also not as “cookie cutter” as others. She never fit what doctors called the “normal” patterns or symptoms for many diseases. It was not until a long hospital stay where she became septic and met her team of doctors that a Lupus diagnoses was made. Her symptoms ranged from nightly fevers, seizures, severe joint pain, pleurisy, infections, severe hearing loss, breathing problems, kidney issues, and much more.
This year has been particularly challenging for her with many set backs, flares lasting months, infections, and terrible side effects that have left possible permanent damage to her body. She has had to get used to a new way of life and change alot of her daily activities and routines. Most days are a struggle for her but she will never let the disease take control.
Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus. Join our team today and support our efforts!
