Living with lupus for the past few years has been an immense challenge, impacting every aspect of my life—my body, relationships, finances, and self-worth. If you've met me, you know I'm a tough broad who doesn't give up or shy away from difficult topics, but discussing lupus is incredibly painful for me. This has prevented me from connecting with others sharing my experience, resulting in a lonely journey.
I've taken a leap of courage by creating this team to reach out to the lupus community and join the walk in September. My goal is to raise $1,000. While it may not bring about groundbreaking research or directly impact me, finding purpose in my battle against the constant shadow of death that follows me daily (though I still want that grim reaper tattoo, Derek) means the world to me.
I want to give this unyielding struggle a greater meaning in my life. Whether through hugs, a simple "you go, girl," or a generous donation, your support would be invaluable.
To my village, especially you, Kai, thank you for your unwavering patience when I've had to cancel plans, my memory fails me, and when fatigue and crankiness seem to be my constant companions. I love you to pieces and don't know where I'd be without you.
Progress Update: Despite a year and a half of various treatments, relief has remained elusive, and new areas of my body continue to join the rebellion. Starting next month, I will be undergoing infusions in addition to my daily treatments. I've also been enrolled in a clinical trial beginning in June. I'm hopeful.
