Hi All! it's that time of the year again and Lupus Fiasco is fundraising for the 3rd year to raise money for the Walk to End Lupus Now! Lupus Fiasco was again Top Team in the Boston Area, and I brought home another Top Walker award to put besides by Rookie of the Year trophy I had the honor of receiving last year! I'm so beyond grateful for all the support I have gotten from people from near and far! But, unfortunately, Lupus is still very much a mystery and a constant struggle, so we have to keep raising money to help find a cure for Lupus!
Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disorder. It is described as a silent killer because it strikes without warning and can affect any part of the body in numerous ways that we still don't understand. It's often looked over as something not as serious or a complete misdiagnosis. Not only does it affect your physical health, but it also affects your mental health and every aspect of your life. There is no cure for Lupus at the moment. Dedicated doctors have been working to understand Lupus but there is still much more that we don't know about this life altering disease. I, myself, am living with Lupus. I was diagnosed with Lupus four years ago, but have been struggling with the unknown for much longer. My whole life I've been a frequent flyer at the doctor, but for the most part I always felt like I wasn't being taken seriously because I was "young" and I "look healthy". After being swept under the rug for many years (and my mom couldn't force me to the doctor anymore), I avoided doctors and learned to live with all the unknown pain and sickness. Then, Summer of 2020, the pain and symptoms became unbearable. After Advocating for myself and going through numerous tests, I was finally diagnosed with this uncommon autoimmune disorder that I didn't know anything about. It was scary hearing a diagnosis, but at least I finally had an explanation. Questions just started to flood in my mind and since Lupus is under researched, many of those questions are still unanswered today. So, I am joining thousands of people across the country for the Walk to End Lupus Now, and I hope that you, your family and your friends with all help me fight this silent beast of a disease and donate to this necessary cause!
You can make a difference by donating to help me reach my personal fundraising goal and support the Foundation's efforts to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus. Any contribution can make an impact! What's more, if your employer offers a matching gift program to employees, you may be able to double your contribution! Every single dollar counts. One of the most common symptoms is hand joint pain. So, donate for those who are struggling to hold a pen, to write, or type at the moment due to chronic pain caused by Lupus!
I am hosting a fundraising event on October 12th at the Point in Boston! We will be raffling off some great prizes so you don't want to miss out! Please click the link for details:
