On May 18 20221 at 10:30 pm, my daughter and i life changed, My daughter was sleeping and i went to check on her and she was bloated like a fish, and unresponsive. i quickly got her to the hospital and they transported her right away to Joe Dimaggio hospital. While arriving at the hospital she was pronounced in kidney failure, my heart stopped for a quick second. I wasn't sure my daughter was gonna make it, i quickly prayed and asked God to save her, as a parent you give anything to switch places for your kid in heartbeat. The doctors ran so many tests ,they couldn't figure out what she was in kidney failure, they actually thought she had Covid , at this time we was in the hospital it was during Covid in the beginning of it,this was such a crazy time to be in the hospital . My daughter was in the hospital for 1 month and 2 weeks fighting for her life. I never left her side, i didn't see my house for 1 month and 2 weeks, i was not walking out that hospital without her. She went in the hospital on a stretcher unresponsive, and i wasn't gonna leave without her ,she would have to walk out of their and so she did . My daughter is 17 now and everyday is a challenge with this disease called Lupus, we definitely need to be aware and find a cure for everyone who is dealing with this. I am a Caregivger of a remarkable young lady, thats my daughter and her name is Paris.
I am joining thousands of people across the country for the Walk to End Lupus Now®. I hope that you will join me either by lacing up your sneakers or by donating to my fundraising page.
You can make a difference by donating to help me reach my personal fundraising goal and support the Foundation's efforts to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus! A generous contribution of $25 or $55 can make a definite impact. What’s more, if your employer offers a Matching Gift Program to employees, you may be able to double your contribution with just a little bit of paperwork. Trust me, it’s worth the effort! Every single dollar counts.
Did you know?
Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. It strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known causes or cure.
Lupus symptoms can be severe and highly unpredictable and can damage any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys.
While lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90% of people living with lupus are women. Women of color are at especially high risk.
Lupus is hard to diagnose, but the Lupus Foundation of America is working to make life easier and more comfortable for the estimated 1.5 million people living with lupus in the United States. Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus. Thank you for your generosity!
