A Little About Me:
I am a wife, mother and grandma on a mission to find a cure for Lupus! I originally learned about the Lupus Foundation of America after I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2005. Lupus is like a sniper targeting my organs. Everyday I have a war inside my body. People always say, “You look so healthy!” What they don’t know is I live in pain and exhaustion daily and I have to rely on medications that suppress my immune system to stay alive. My lupus has attacked most of my organs over the years. I have had many surgeries, including open heart surgery, to save my life. I had one organ turn to what the doctor called, “mush.” I believe in the Lupus Foundation whole heartedly. The foundation is dedicated to raising awareness of this devastating disease, donating funds toward research, reaching out to our politicians, assisting lupus patients, and so much more.
Why I Became An Ambassador For The Lupus Foundation:
There is NO CURE for lupus yet! Lupus runs in my family. My grandmother died of lupus in her early 30’s. My dad has lupus. My mom has lupus. My 23 year old son has lupus. Now my 11 year old son shows clear signs of lupus and we have been referred to a specialist for an official diagnosis. I will do everything in my power to help my children live in a world where there is a cure. There are approximately 1.5 million people living with Lupus in the United States. Lupus can be fatal! WE NEED TO FIND A CURE!

Did you know?
Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. It strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known causes or cure. It is not contagious.
Lupus symptoms can be severe and highly unpredictable and can damage any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys.
While lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90% of people living with lupus are women. Women of color are at especially high risk.
Lupus is hard to diagnose, but the Lupus Foundation of America is working to make life easier and more comfortable for people living with lupus. Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus.
