Walk to End Lupus NOW
Dear Friends and Family,
On 10/20/2019, I'll be participating in the 2019 Walk to End Lupus Now®. I’m walking because lupus is a cruel disease and we need to work together to help fulfill the Lupus Foundation of America’s vision of a life free of lupus.
Walk to End Lupus Now® is an important event because it raises critical funds to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through programs of research, education, support and advocacy.
As a person living with Lupus it is important to me that others learn about Lupus which affects mostly women. In addition, this year the walk falls on my daughters Lakisha’s birthday. I walk in memory of my daughter Lakisha Wells, my niece Christina English, my cousin Romel Rollerson and others that haved suffered from Lupus. My personal goal is to raise $250. More importantly, my goal is for family and friends to learn about Lupus and understand it.
I encourage you to join me at Golden Gate Park October 20, 2019 at 9am to walk and bring attention to this illness. Lupus is an unpredictable and misunderstood disease in which the immune system is out of balance, causing damage to any organ system in the body. The exact cause of lupus is unknown and while lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90 percent of the 1.5 million Americans living with the disease are females.
