I’m Walking to End Lupus. Join Me?
This is the third consecutive year that our team (“Lup Won’t Stop us”- Team Survival”), will be active with donating, fundraising and/or waking to to end Lupus-
My personal journey with Lupus
My struggles with Lupus are extremely challenging.
As a result of Lupus (Systemic Erythematasus), I have developed additional health concerns which are thought to have occurred due to the disease or side effects from medication. One of these health issues is Avascular Necrosis (decaying of bone tissue due to lack of blood supply). As a result, I was required to have hip replacement surgery. I have also been diagnosed with Melody-plastic Syndrome (a blood disease in which the bone marrow fails to produce enough of one or more types of healthy blood cells or platelets). I am doing good today,
in spite of complications resulting from the disease.
There is more good news! I am currently participating in a trial, which has offered me an opportunity to receive a new medication that is pending FDA approval. I continue to adjust my life so that I can manage learning how to live with Lupus.
One of my immediate goals is to assist with increasing awareness about Lupus. In addition to raising funds so that research becomes a priority for finding medication, or even a cure.
I am very excited to be apart of this effort and appreciate donations and / or participation.
Thank you for joining me in my fight against Lupus.
Will you make a donation to help me reach my personal fundraising goal and support the Foundation's efforts to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus? A generous contribution of $25 or $55 can make a definite impact. What’s more, if your employer offers a Matching Gift Program to employees, you may be able to double your contribution with just a little bit of paperwork. Trust me, it’s worth the effort! Every single dollar counts.
Did you know?
- Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. It strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known causes or cure.
- Lupus symptoms can be severe and highly unpredictable and can damage any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys.
- While lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90% of people living with lupus are women. Women of color are at especially high risk.
- Only one drug has ever been developed and approved by the US Food and Drug Administration specifically to treat the disease.
Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus. Thank you for your participation and generosity!
