Lupus Blows, Theresa Knows!
We are honestly not sure what to expect for year #5 in Phoenix, as COVID19 has changed the definition of what we call "normal." However, the pandemic taught us that we have miles and miles to go in terms of raising awarness (& funds) for lupus. For the past 23 years, Theresa has been living with lupus, and since 2007, Lupus Blows, Theresa Knows has raised over $100,000 toward lupus reserach and programs/services that benefit lupus warriors like Theresa. Last year, we surpassed the $100K plateau, set an individual team fundraising record with over $12K and Dave made good on a promise to shave his head as a fundraising incentive! If we're allowed to safely congregate, the 2020 Arizona walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 12th at Paradise Valley Mall in Phoenix (it'll be indoors & in the AC!). We appreciate everyone's support over the years & hope that you'll continue to support the Phoenix version of Lupus Blows, Theresa Knows! We would love for you to be able to walk with us on 9/12, but if you're not able, any size donation is greatly appreciated!
Did you know?
- Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. It strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known causes or cure.
- Lupus symptoms can be severe and highly unpredictable and can damage any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys.
- While lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90% of people living with lupus are women. Women of color are at especially high risk.
- Only one drug has ever been developed and approved by the US Food and Drug Administration specifically to treat the disease.
Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus. Thank you for your generosity!
