Lupus is a cruel disease that affects more than 1.5 million Americans. 9 out of 10 lupus patients are women, but can strike men and even children. This chronic disease often leads to disability and 10-15% of lupus patients die prematurely.
As the world rushes back to "normal", many lupus patients feel left behind. Despite the existence of COVID vaccines, we remain in the shadows due to our high risk; more isolated than our disease typically demands. For many of us, the support, education, and community received from the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) throughout the pandemic and now has been vital. Like most other charities, the LFA faces significant difficulties as a result of COVID. I hope that you will join Curtis Fundamental elementary in their first ever fundraiser to support the Lupus Foundation of America.
We realize that the past 2 year have negatively impacted us all, a donation of ANY amount would be greatly appreciated,
What’s more, if your employer offers a Matching Gift Program to employees, you may be able to double your contribution with just a little bit of paperwork. Every single dollar counts.
Did you know?
- Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. It strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known causes or cure.
- Lupus symptoms can be severe and highly unpredictable and can damage any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys.
- While lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90% of people living with lupus are women. Women of color are at especially high risk.
- Only one drug has ever been developed and approved by the US Food and Drug Administration specifically to treat the disease.
Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus and those of us battling with it can start to step out of the shadows. Thank you for your support and generosity!
