I was recently diagnosed with lupus a few weeks ago. It took over 10 years for my doctors to officially diagnose me as the disease is extremely difficult to diagnose. I was in chronic pain for over 10 years and each time I went to the doctor they couldn’t find anything wrong. It got to a point where I thought I was going crazy because it felt as though no one believed me including my family. I was often teased for being tired all the time and constantly lying in bed. The joint pain, chronic fatigue, and memory loss brought on severe depression and anxiety to the point of considering taking my own life. No one understood it except my spouse who was extremely supportive the entire time. He knew I wasn’t crazy and something was wrong. His and the grace of God’s constant support is what helped me get through these past 10 years.
Lupus is a terrible disease and currently there is no cure or easy way to diagnose. I stand with others who are suffering with this horrible disease and I’m walking to end lupus once and for all. My prayer is that I will see a cure in my lifetime. With God anything is possible. We just have to believe.
You can make a difference by donating to help me reach my personal fundraising goal and support the foundations efforts to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus. A generous contribution can make a definite impact.
Thank you so much for your support.
Did you know?
Lupus is a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. It strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known causes or cure.
Lupus symptoms can be severe and highly unpredictable and can damage any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys.
While lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90% of people living with lupus are women. Women of color are at especially high risk.
Lupus is hard to diagnose, but the Lupus Foundation of America is working to make life easier and more comfortable for the estimated 1.5 million people living with lupus in the United States. Together, we can solve the cruel mystery of lupus. Thank you for your generosity!
