On October 5th, the Lupus Foundation of America is hosting the Walk to End Lupus Now in NYC! Will You Support Me!?  

This year is particularly important to our family because we lost my sister, Brittney Marie, to lupus complications exactly SEVEN years ago on October 5th 2017. Our family feels her loss every single day and I will continue to live out my promise to her and advocate to End Lupus Now. 

Last year, we walked virtually in Tuscany, Italy since Gigi and Papa's wedding was later that day. It was a gorgeous, sunny morning - the perfect setting to honor my sweet sister. (pictured right) This year, we will be back in NYC to walk in-person and it's my son's first time participating! I will continue to inform my kids on the dangers of lupus and how it is a hidden, unpredictable, chronic, debilitating disease that can be fatal. 

The lupus community has been impacted more than most during the pandemic because the disease weakens the immune system and puts people with lupus at a higher risk for COVID-19. I cannot help but to think about my sister and what it would be like for her living through the pandemic with lupus, and it terrifies me.
