Last fall my world flipped upside down and I was diagnosed with lupus, a mysterious and misunderstood autoimmune disease. Lupus strikes without warning, affects each person differently, and has no known causes or cure. Its symptoms can be severe and highly unpredictable, impacting any organ or tissue, from the skin or joints to the heart or kidneys.
To raise awareness and funds for lupus research, I will be participating in the Los Angeles Lupus Walk. I am walking for myself and for everyone who is affected by this challenging disease. Did you know that while lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90% of those living with lupus are women?
