I am Racing to End lupus! This is my first marathon and I’m excited & nervous! As most of you know, I’ve had SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) since I was a young child. In fact, I’ve now battled the disease & all that goes with it for 28 of my 40 years! I was initially diagnosed due to total renal failure, for which I received dialysis. I have since dealt with many other conditions related to my lupus, including such fun ailments as DVT with PE (blood clots that travel to the lungs), epileptic seizures, SIBO, circulation problems, arthritis, & much more. Thankfully this terrible disease allowed me to meet my wonderful husband & caused my passion for nutrition. I can thank Lupus for my amazing husband & my career!
This is the first time in my life I feel healthy enough to complete in a race like this, so PLEASE help me make it happen! I must meet a specific fundraising goal to race, so please support me this year as I race on June 2nd in San Diego! I can’t wait to be part of something bigger than myself & to donate to the ONLY organization fighting and doing research specifically for those of us with lupus. I am now a lupus warrior! Thank you all so much!
Lupus is hidden, unpredictable, undefined and misunderstood. It strikes without warning, ravages different parts of the body and can range from a skin rash to a heart attack or complete kidney failure. Lupus is chronic, debilitating, destructive and can be fatal. There is no known cause and no known cure. I’m participating in Team Make Your Mark™ because I want to make a difference in the lives of the 1.5 million Americans affected by lupus, including my own.
I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress. We can solve the cruel mystery of lupus together!
Join me and support the mission of the Lupus Foundation of America! My goal is to raise critical funds for the estimated 1.5 million people living with lupus in the United States. Your donation will help me reach my personal fundraising goal and support the Foundation's efforts to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus!
